What is gematria?
Gematria (גימטריה) is the traditional Jewish practice of assigning numerical values to the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. Words and phrases that share the same sum are understood to share a hidden spiritual resonance — a thread woven through Torah, Talmud, the Zohar, and the writings of the Kabbalists.
The four systems on this page
Mispar Hechrachi — the standard absolute method. Each letter takes its classical value: א=1, ב=2 … ת=400. This is the gematria most people mean when they say "gematria."
Mispar Gadol — the great count. The five final (sofit) forms ך ם ן ף ץ take expanded values 500, 600, 700, 800, and 900. Use it to see the fuller energy when a name ends with a final letter.
Mispar Katan — the small count. Every letter is reduced to a single digit 1–9, exposing the seed essence beneath the revealed name.
Atbash — the ancient substitution cipher that pairs א↔ת, ב↔ש, and so on. Atbash uncovers a hidden meaning — the shadow or concealed gift living beneath the surface of a name.
